He married Helen Mary LEARY June 28, 1941 in Burlington, Chittenden, VT.(2537) Helen was born April 9, 1916 in Burlington, Chittenden,
VT.(2538) Helen was the daughter of
Matthew George LEARY and Modesta Ellen (Maude) GLEASON. Helen died May 23, 1962 in Albany, Albany, NY, at 46 years
of age. Her body was interred 1962 in Menands, NY.(2539) Helen had her will probated in Albany, Albany, NY.
Helen was a graduate of the University of Vermont where she was a sister in Alpha Xi Delta sorority. In the 1940 census she was a labor
investigator for the state of Vermont. She was involved in many alumni events and was an amature artist.
Lewis was listed as a son in George Steel BARTON's household on the 1920 Census in Billerica, Middlesex, MA. The

In his teen age years Lewis left home and lived with his aunt Ruth and uncle Louis Willard. The reasons for this have been obscured by time
but seem to be associated with the crash of '29 which wiped out the family fortune and the depression.
He graduated from Hebron Academy in Hebrun, ME in 1933 and obtained his BS in 1937 from the University of Vermont. In 1940 he obtained is
MD from the same institution. He served his internship at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford and his residency at Albany Medical Center. Upon
completion of his internship, Dr. Barton enlisted in the Medical Department of the Army Air Corps achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel
seeing action the Indo-Burma-China theater. He was awarded a purple heart and Bronze Star for his service.
He was chief of staff at St. Peter's and Childs Hospitals in Albany, founded the Conservation of Hearing Clinic at the Albany Medical
Center and was assistant professor of otolaryngology at Albany Medical College. An enthusiastic supporter of "Project Hope," he and his
sons Thomas and Paul served during July and August of 1962 on the hospital ship "Hope" at Trujillo, Peru.
