56. Caleb⁴ BARTON (Samuel³, Matthew², Edward¹) was born in Framingham, Middlesex, MA February 9, 1704/1705.⁽⁵⁴⁾

He married twice. He married Mary SHUMWAY December 6, 1725 in Oxford, Worcester, MA. Mary was born May 9, 1708 in Boxford, Essex, MA. Mary was the daughter of Peter SHUMWAY and Moriah SMITH. Mary died August 29, 1747 in Oxford, Worcester, MA, at 39 years of age. He married Susannah MARCH January 13, 1748/1749 in Sutton, Worcester, MA.⁽⁵⁵⁾ Susannah died in Plainfield, MA.

Caleb was the executor of his father's will and was given half of the Barton homestead farm in Oxford Village and any residue remaining after bequests. He also bought a tract of land on Prospect Hill from David Towne and later removed to Charlton.

Caleb BARTON and Mary SHUMWAY had the following children:

116 iii. Hannah BARTON was born in Oxford, Worcester, MA September 29, 1728. Hannah died before 1758. She married Ebenezer BARTON January 24, 1748/1749 in Oxford, Worcester, MA.⁽⁵⁶⁾ Also recorded at Dudley, MA

Ebenezer was born December 10, 1726.⁽⁵⁷⁾ Ebenezer was the son of Samuel BARTON and Elizabeth BELLOWS. Ebenezer was a soldier in the Revolution and was probably killed during the war.

117 iv. Reuben BARTON was born in Oxford, Worcester, MA May 20, 1731. Reuben died March 4, 1733/1734 in Oxford, Worcester, MA, at 1 year of age.

118 v. Azubah BARTON was born in Oxford, Worcester, MA December 25, 1733.⁽⁵⁸⁾ Azubah died August 23, 1747 in Oxford, Worcester, MA, at 13 years of age.

119 vi. Caleb BARTON was born in Oxford, Worcester, MA August 11, 1736. Caleb died 1756 in Ft William Henry, NY, at 19 years of age.

Caleb BARTON and Susannah MARCH had the following children:

120 vii. March BARTON was born in Oxford, Worcester, MA January 1, 1748/1749.

122 ix. Abraham BARTON was born in Oxford, Worcester, MA October 16, 1750.

123 x. Jacob BARTON was born in Oxford, Worcester, MA November 2, 1752.

+ 124 xi. Bathsheba BARTON was born October 15, 1754.

125 xii. Hannah BARTON was born in Oxford, Worcester, MA July 18, 1757.

+ 126 xiii. Sibley BARTON was born August 18, 1760.

+ 127 xiv. Olive BARTON was born October 14, 1763.
