1633. Edward Barton8 WESLEY (Betsey7 BARTON, Phinehas6, John5, Caleb4, Samuel3, Matthew2, Edward1) was born in Leicester, Worcester, MA 11 June 1811.(1502) Edward died 3 October 1906 in Portchester, NY, at 95 years of age.

He married Elizabeth KELLEY 8 December 1836 in Buffalo, Erie, NY. Elizabeth was born 8 August 1820 in New York, NY. Dale Pitzen, co author of 'Where the Wild Strawberries Grow" a book on Leicester, MA related the following notes on Edward. In 1824 General Lafayette visited Leicester and 13 year old Edward sold his mother's silver pins to the crowd for $2 intending to go to New York. When he finally got to New York he earned money by buying food and selling it to hungry travellers on the ferries to Albany and back. He eventually began to broker banknotes. In 1850 he and George Jones invested $40,000 and founded the New York Times becoming the first manager of the paper.. He sold his interest in 1861 for $1,000,000 becomming one of the most prosperous investors on Wall Street. Edward was also a founder of the New York Globe.

child 3152 v. Lillian Florence WESLEY was born in Portchester, NY 19 December 1853.

child 3153 vi. Ida Agnes WESLEY was born in Portchester, NY 14 June 1854.
