He married Mary E. FROST December 10, 1844 in Greenfield, Franklin, MA. Mary was born circa 1822 in MA. Mary is said to be of Watertown in the Banns at Gill.

He had marriage banns published 19 December 1844 in Gill, Franklin, MA.⁽¹⁴⁵⁶⁾ Benjamin was listed as the head of a family on the 1860 Census in Gill, Franklin, MA. The following individuals are also linked to this event: Leonard BARTON (household member); Rev. Harriet Isabella BARTON (household member); Henry Bradford BARTON (household member); Edward B. BARTON (household member); George Leonard BARTON (household member); Mary E. FROST (household member). Benjamin inherited the farm and "old red house" from his father. In the 1860 census his brother Leonard was living with the family. He served as a selectman in 1855 and 1856.

3124 v. Rev. Harriet Isabella BARTON was born in Gill, Franklin, MA 24 November 1859. Harriet died 6 November 1938 in Buffalo, Erie, NY, at 78 years of age.⁽¹⁴⁵⁸⁾ She married Rev. Richard W. BOYNTON. Harriet graduated from the Meadville Unitarian Theological School in 1895 and becam a Unitarian minister. She and her minister husband filled a long pastorate in Buffalo, NY.
