Ira Moore Barton

804. Ira Moore⁷ BARTON (Hannah⁶, Stephen⁵, Edmund⁴, Samuel³, Matthew², Edward¹) was born in Oxford, Worcester, MA 25 November 1796. Ira died July 18, 1867 in Worcester, Worcester, MA, at 70 years of age.⁽⁹⁷⁴⁾ His body was interred 22 July 1867 in Worcester, Worcester, MA.

He married Maria Waters BULLARD 25 October 1823 in Worcester, Worcester, MA. Maria was born 25 January 1800 in Northbridge, Worcester, MA. Maria was the daughter of Artemus BULLARD and Lucy WHITE. Maria died 24 November 1883 in Worcester, Worcester, MA, at 83 years of age.

Ira had his will probated 1867 in Worcester, Worcester, MA. Ira was the illegitimate son of Hannah Barton and General Jonathan Davis who later did marry. He kept his mothers name and added the Moore in 1839 via an act of the Massachusetts general court. Descendants of Ira should trace their paternal line as a Davis rather than Barton.

An accomplished lawyer, Ira was appointed Probate Judge of Worcester county in 1836 and held the position through 1844. He also served as state representative for Worcester in 1846.

+ 1861 iv. Charles Henry BARTON was born 10 April 1830.

1862 v. Artemas Bullard BARTON was born in Oxford, Worcester, MA 5 December 1831.⁽⁹⁷⁷⁾ Artemas died 17 April 1837 in Worcester, Worcester, MA, at 5 years of age.⁽⁹⁷⁸⁾

+ 1863 vi. Lucy Ann BARTON was born 24 July 1834.

+ 1864 vii. Francis Augustus BARTON was born 24 October 1836.

1865 viii. Frederick A. BARTON was born about 1837.

+ 1866 ix. Edmund Mills BARTON was born 27 September 1838.

1867 x. George Edward BARTON was born in Worcester, Worcester, MA 30 July 1841.⁽⁹⁷⁹⁾ George died 19 May 1878 in Worcester, Worcester, MA, at 36 years of age.⁽⁹⁸⁰⁾
