340. Luke N.⁶ BARTON (Stephen⁵, Edmund⁴, Samuel³, Matthew², Edward¹) was born in Oxford, Worcester, MA September 3, 1791.⁽⁴⁰²⁾ Luke died 1837 in Augusta, Kennebec, ME, at 45 years of age.⁽⁴⁰³⁾

He married Martha BALLARD 19 March 1823 in Augusta, Kennebec, ME.⁽⁴⁰⁴⁾ Martha was born 29 November 1802. Martha died 24 July 1845 at 42 years of age.

Luke was listed as the head of a family on the 1830 Census in Windsor, Kennebec, ME. The following individuals are also linked to this event: George Lafayette BARTON (free wh male 00-05); Charles Henry BARTON (free wh male 05-10). On his death, Lukes two youngest children Dorothy (Dolly) and Sarah were placed in the guardianship of Ephriam Ballard, a reletive of his wife.

Luke N. BARTON and Martha BALLARD had the following children:

807 i. Charles Henry⁷ BARTON was born 05 January 1825. Charles died 26 May 1868 in Augusta, Kennebec, ME, at 43 years of age. Charles was living in Augusta as a painter in the 1850 and 1860 census.

+ 808 ii. George Lafayette BARTON was born 05 January 1827.

+ 809 iii. Martha Augusta BARTON was born 12 March 1829.

810 iv. Hannah Davis BARTON was born 1831. She married Ansyl W. RICHARDSON 16 November 1853 in Augusta, Kennebec, ME.⁽⁴⁰⁵⁾ Ansyl was born about 1825. Ansyl was the son of Ansyl RICHARDSON.

811 v. Virgil Ballard BARTON was born 1832. Virgil died 28 June 1852 at 19 years of age. At the 1850 census Virgil was living with his uncle Gideon in Windsor, Maine.

812 vi. Sarah H. BARTON was born 03 February 1836.

+ 813 vii. Dorothy M. BARTON was born 03 February 1836.
