52. Samuel⁴ BARTON (Samuel³, Matthew², Edward¹) was born in Salem, Essex, MA October 8, 1691.⁽³³⁾ Samuel died after 1748/1749 in Dudley, MA.

He married Elizabeth BELLOWS May 23, 1715 in Marlborough, MA.⁽³⁴⁾ Elizabeth was born March 17, 1695/1696 in Marlborough, MA. Elizabeth was the daughter of Isaac BELLOWS and Elizabeth HOWE.

Samuel was employed. Samuel Barton was one of the original thirty grantees and settlers of the four thousand acre grant in Sutton, granted by the proprietors. His name is entered as the owner of lot number 5 of the eight lots. He also bought lands there and was town treasurer, selectman and moderator. He and his wife were members of the Sutton church. In 1746 he conveyed to his son Samuel Jr. thirty five acres in Sutton and in 1748 his home farm to son Bezeleel. Early in 1748 he bought a farm in Dudley and removed there.

Samuel BARTON and Elizabeth BELLOWS had the following children:

90 i. Amariah⁵ BARTON was born in Sutton, Worcester, MA August 30, 1716.⁽³⁵⁾ Amariah died December 8, 1730 in Sutton, Worcester, MA, at 14 years of age.⁽³⁶⁾ She was baptized 14 April 1717 in Marlborough, MA.⁽³⁷⁾

+ 91 ii. Mary BARTON was born September 14, 1718.

+ 92 iii. Bezaleel BARTON was born July 26, 1722.

+ 93 iv. Samuel BARTON was born August 12, 1724.

+ 94 v. Ebenezer BARTON was born December 10, 1726.

95 vi. Elizabeth Betty BARTON was born in Sutton, Worcester, MA February 10, 1728/1729. She was christened October 26, 1729 in Sutton, Worcester, MA.⁽³⁸⁾

96 vii. Amariah BARTON was born in Sutton, Worcester, MA November 18, 1731.⁽³⁹⁾
